What it's really like turning 21!
Surrounded by friends and family, my birthday consisted of a house party with about 30 people. For the longest time, I was adamant that I didn't want to do anything for my birthday. But then, of course I started getting invited to other people's 21st'. Cruises, parties, roof tops, everything you can think of and I started to think; should I do something? My answer was yes, because I knew that If I didn't do something, I would probably regret it.
I finally figured that the best thing to do was a house party, but I had to make it different, stand out. Something that would make people remember my birthday. My answer to that? A jumping castle! Not just your ordinary jumping castle though. A boxing ring style jumping castle with giant boxing gloves! As you can see from the picture. The amount of fun that was had on this was insane! It was like being a kid again. Plus everyone is pretty much drunk which made it all that more fun of course.
In great Aussie tradition once speeches are made it is customary for a drink to be skulled with the classic "here's to..." I'm not going to spell out the song for you but its basically an Aussie drinking chant for the birthday person to skull an alcoholic drink. My mother wasn't too thrilled as I saw her face filled with horror but, ah well. You only turn 21 once! (Isn't my birthday cake amazing though!)
In summary, my 21st Birthday party was one of the best night's that I have ever had! I was surrounded by the people that I absolutely adore. I had friends travel from all across NSW to come and see me and I was so appreciative of that. These people actually made the effort just to see me and to make this day special and for that I am forever grateful. Turning 21 and the way you celebrate, will only be as special as what you make it. You only turn 21 once, so make it count!
