Santorini: The highlight reel
Santorini, known for its beautiful scenery, blue domes and as the island of love; this gorgeous Greek location was seriously breath taking.
The third stop in my Greek Island Hopping adventure, Santorini served as a relaxing break from the partying scene that is Mykonos. It also served as the island that ticked off so many things off the bucket list. I got to swim in hot springs, climb an active volcano, drive a quad bike; I even rode a donkey! It was a stop full of adventure and highlights.
My favourite part about my trip was visiting the town of Oia. You know, that location you see as everyone's screensaver on their computer or backdrop on their mobile phones. Responsible for scenic views, gorgeous blue domes and jaw dropping scenery, this little town at the top of Santorini was simply breath taking! You're pretty much right on the edge of the island. Myself and my contiki room mate grabbed lunch at a restaurant which was literally on the cliff face of the island. We literally starred at the ocean views for a good ten minutes before looking at our menu's. The waiter certainly found it funny. One of the other things that you'll certainly notice when wandering the paths of Oia is the amount of wedding parties. People actually don't really get married there but they travel just to take wedding photographs. I think I counted about 5 wedding parties when exploring.
Whilst Santorini was a great experience, would I ever go back? probably not. It's a tick off the bucket list. If someone offered to pay for my trip though; It would be rude of me not to go again! All in all, make sure you go to Santorini, everybody else has!
