Going any where by yourself can be daunting. In your head, questions are continuously being played on a loop. Will I be okay? What if something bad happens? What will I do if something goes wrong? All these questions and more go through your head. Travelling solo for the first time can be scary; but once you put all that behind and focus on the benefits of seeing and experiencing something by yourself; you truly have a blast. Here are my top reasons for travelling alone.
1. Logistics
It's a lot easier to plan a getaway by yourself rather than having a heap of other people and their opinions involved. You are all that matters on this holiday
2. The power of 'me' time
Ahhhh me time. This is the beautiful time that you usually spend relaxing in your bed binge-watching the latest TV show to hit Netflix. Imagine this but on the other side of the world, see things that you'd never see anywhere else.
3. You're the master of your bucket list
You and you alone get to decipher what you do on holiday without any external influencers. i loved being able to go on my own little adventure and just co crazy doing whatever I wanted to do. I'm the type of person who will just go along doing what other people want to do; but I made sure that that didn't happen on this trip.
4. You're not totally solo
To think that you're going to be completely and utterly alone is somewhat naive. Whether you're backpacking, going on a group tour or just going with the flow, you'll definitely meet new people; and as cliche as it is you'll make new friends as well.
5. It'll be above and beyond your expectations
When planning a holiday abroad, there's a picture in your head about how it will go. Just know this; you need to throw all those ideas out the window. You never know what travelling overseas will bring. But that's what makes it so exciting. It's these unexpected trips that will be at the top of your memory bank once it's over.
Just a 24-year-old chick from Sydney who sometimes tends to think that her life is pretty average, when in reality, her life is actually pretty awesome (I'm just yet to realise it). Hopefully writing about my life will make me realise how lucky I really am.
