Tips & helpful hints to boost weight loss, energy and concentration
So many of us want to make huge changes to our
diet. We plan to exercise every day, to eat nothing but salad and chicken and
WE KNOW we’ll stick to it this time! But realistically the best way to get
healthy isn’t about overhauling our lives completely. It’s more about making
simple changes that have noticeable effects on our health.
Here’s the lazy girl guide to making small changes to your
daily routine which will boost your health, even when you’re feeling a tiny bit
lazy!
Remember
you’re sweet enough
Studies have shown that sugar is even
worse for your health than originally thought. There is a growing amount of
research that is proving that sugar is a major culprit contributing to many
conditions like obesity and diabetes. The CSIRO estimates that Australians
sugar consumption is averaging 27 teaspoons a day!
One major contribution to our sugar intake is the empty
calories we consume just from what we drink each day. Often
we are unaware of the high levels of sugar that are hidden, and so,
being mindful of what we’re drinking can reduce our daily sugar intake quite
significantly.
Try using a few slices of fruit to brighten up
water to add taste and a little natural sweetness. Fresh mint leaves, a squeeze
of lemon or a handful of blueberries can make a huge difference to your glass
of water and stop you from missing those sugar filled sodas. If you do
really miss that sugar hit, try the bliss ball recipe below for a healthy sweet
treat.
Be more
green to get lean!
Adding more vegetables to your diet -
particularly leafy green ones - are a fantastic way to boost your health. They
are rich in antioxidants and crucial vitamins and minerals.
Our daily lives, sun exposure and diet exposes us
to lots of dangerous free radicals. These can damage healthy cells, causing
skin to lose elasticity and if they start to multiply can lead to cancer.
Antioxidants are an important way to help eradicate these free radicals as they
detox them from your body without any cell damage.
A great way to consume more greens, and therefore
more antioxidants, is to drink lots of delicious green juices. Just add all
your favourite vegetables to your blender and whizz into a juice. You can add
further supplements to your juice, like matcha green tea powder, to increase the
levels of antioxidants and help boost your metabolism.
Matcha powder is made from the whole tea leaf
which has been stone ground into a fine powder, and It contains
the highest levels of antioxidants of any other food. Just half a teaspoon of
matcha green tea powder contains 137x the antioxidants contained in a standard cup
of green tea - so adding a scoop to your juice is a really fantastic way to get
healthier! Just
give my favourite Aussie brand, Zen Green Tea a try. They source their matcha from
sustainable farms in Japan and are packed full with all the antioxidants,
Work
smarter
Often a major change to your exercise routine
isn’t sustainable, which is why many of us fall off the wagon quickly.
The way to keep your exercise levels at a
reasonable rate is to make smart changes to your daily routine. Instead of
taking an elevator, use the stairs and if your journey is just a short distance
try walking instead of driving. A great way to reduce your carbon footprint
while getting fit!
Another way to boost your exercise routine is to
grab resistance bands and have a few go-to moves you can do while watching your
favourite TV show. Get your friends involved and go for walks together,
or schedule
your weekly coffee after a morning yoga session together. Studies have also
shown that exercising daily will boost your energy levels naturally... Energy
creates energy! Just remember what the great Reese Witherspoon once said, “exercise
releases endorphines and endorphine make you happy!” so think of that next time
your huffing and puffing.
It’s these simple changes to your daily
routine can really help you make long term changes to your health. With small
adjustments to
your diet and being mindful towards your activity levels you can feel
brighter and healthier in no time at all!
